Starting a Driving School

Check this out from Entrepreneur Magazine:

Working with teen drivers, teaching them how to be good defensive drivers is a multimillion-dollar industry in America. The main requirement for starting a drivers ed class is to be--or have on staff--certified driving instructors and teachers. Many driving instruction schools now subcontract out the driving instruction to trained professionals in the local area who supply their own cars, insurance and gas in exchange for a percentage of the revenue paid by their students. Check with your local DMV to see if this is legal in your state. Some stats don't allow for subcontracted driving instructors. Using this type of operating format can be a terrific way to reduce the overall startup and operating costs for the business which can be substantial with car purchases and classroom/building rental. Do you're homework first and check around your community.

This is a very competitive industry and the only way to succeed is to secure contracts with high schools providing driver education courses for students. The contracts for this service are usually awarded on a tender-for-service basis every one to three
